My Pal Tony Horton

On a rare Saturday morning a few months ago the family was all together eating breakfast. The TV was on (Adam had just introduced the kids to Saturday morning cartoons) and an info-mertial came on for Tony Horton's 10 Minute Trainer. It was a typical work-out advertisement with skinny people standing in giant pants to show you how much weight they lost, etc. In a moment of weakness, Adam and I looked at each other and said "Let's get it!" For the past 5 years I've been working out to 8 Minute Abs/Arms/Buns/Legs and any yoga video or tv show I could. Great work out, but on that Saturday morning I decided it was time to step up my weekly work out by two minutes. The pack arrived in the mail, full to the brim with DVDs, work out bands, and diet tips. I've been faithfully doing two 10 minute sessions, 6 days a week, for the past 5 weeks. At first I was sceptical and told Adam to look into returning everything, he tried (because he thought they would say "Well how 'bout we knock $50 off the price, then will you keep our videos?", but they didn't say that) but now we've decided to keep 'em. I never could see myself pulling off the gym routine. What a hassle to get the kids out the door, hope they stay in the gym babysitting area, pay the price for a gym membership, etc. Now it is just me and Tony (and Tony's work out pals Gretchen and Janie, and if we are lucky Adam joins us) at 7 a.m. before the kids wake up (most days). So for what it is worth, I put my seal of approval on 10 minute trainer (and for clarification (and because I like to use parentheses) the instructions say "do two workouts for faster results" so really it is a 20 minute trainer plus warm up and cool down).

Love it!! I do the 8 minute Tae-bo twice and then sometimes I'll even do my trampoline with it. During the school year I'd do it at 7 am, but we get to bed so late now and we all sleep in! Dang it! I get the best in shape during the fall and spring when the weather is moderate. It's a little too hot and humid now.
